A Great Way to Meet People is to Attend Art Gallery Exhibitions.
If you are looking to connect with potential clients in a relaxed, fun-filled setting —without the awkwardness of having to wear a business suit — go to art galleries. The ambiance is great, the food is not bad, and you get to view incredible artwork from ‘up-and-coming’, painters, photographers, and various artists. Current exhibitions provide topics to help ‘break the ice’ and fuel conversation. Once the Pinot Noir kicks in and the music starts playing (yes, there is music), you can be sure someone is bound to come up to you for a nice discussion on that mixed media collage. Get on the mailing list of your local art galleries to get email notifications on their next event. To get the full benefit, you will need to attend ‘opening nights’ where gallery owners introduce and showcase their new star artists. Spring, along with daffodils, signifies ‘rebirth’ and we believe there is bound to be an art opening night showcasing an artist’s vision somewhere in the city.

Digital Billboards Are Like Watching Movies…On a Highway!
What’s all the hype about digital billboards? Lately we’ve been seeing a lot of highway billboards — not just any old ordinary ‘print’ static versions. These are big, bright, digital versions of their print cousins. Driving down highway i-95 to i-91 North towards Boston, we were in awe of how bright and distracting these gigantic billboards have become. It’s like watching a movie on a highway! They reminded us of the movie ‘Blade Runner’ where actor Harrison Ford maneuvered his car in mid-air past all these huge screen commercial billboards similar to our current ones. Life imitates art indeed! According to EMC Outdoor, they are the latest trend in outdoor advertising. Ad agencies are snapping them up like hot cakes. Expect to see your favorite food commercials being displayed outdoors while driving. Distraction or not, digital billboards are the latest trend for outdoor advertising and they are easing into the highway nearest you.

What an Awesome Sign
This awesome ‘Read’ sign in front of mid-town New York Library cannot be any bigger. The perfect stack of books that were required to make up the ‘read’ sign took us by surprise. In close inspection, the sign revealed a stack of books by Dr. Seuss. We were intrigued indeed. Indeed we were intrigued!
As part of Target’s commitment to reading in partnership with NEA’s Read Across America (nation’s largest celebration of children’s reading), there will be in-store of story time reading on Saturday, February 26, 9-11AM at local Target Stores. Parents are encouraged to bring kids to Target for giveaways and coupons. Plus there’ll be plenty of reading and story time. What a great way to honor Dr. Seuss’s birthday! Target gets an ‘A’ for awesome on their support of this worthy cause. Visit target.com/readacrossamerica for more details.

Elizabeth Taylor (Photograph) is Selling Beads!
Window dressing on a dime. Great branding doesn’t take much. At City of Beads, New York, a store selling exotic beads of all kinds put on a Valentine’s Day window display of beauty and romance, featuring a stunning Elizabeth Taylor in her prime years wearing gorgeous beads. It goes to show, even the simplest poster of a legendary movie icon can still evoke a sense of elegance and beauty on what looks to be ‘a generic’ store front. Liz took us by surprise. We were taken by her beautiful photograph. The classy poster makes you want to go in and buy a bunch of beads. This, we thought, was priceless to see!
